Role of MusicBy Tatyana R

Music can enhance many people’s moods.   This has been happening for generations. Certain types of genres can make you change your mood. Say you here a pop song; you are probably going to want to move around and your mood would be boosted. The beat can bring you to a certain feel or mood. The lyrics are what really tell the story. The lyrics are the key aspect to the song. By understanding the song, most of the time you can relate to it. A catchy song can pull you into wanting to hear the song.
The music parents want their children listening to is different then what they actually listen to.  The music kids’ peers listen to can impact them. The way you interpret the music can help you with your daily and social life. The main point of music is telling a story and entertainment.  Many young artists these days became discovered and use music as a way of expressing themselves. Expressing yourself through music can impact you and others around you due to the actions you take through this. The way you use music can make you do thing you would’ve never thought of doing. The words and actions the artist talks about in the song can persuade you to do those things.
The way teens think their parents think of the music they listen to is different to the way parents actually think. A lot of parents don’t approve of some of the music in everyday society. Music is a way, in daily life, that kids can communicate and show how they are truly feeling.  Many music programs are offered to kids. This is their main source of music in kids’ life.  The programs offered include orchestra, chorus and band for the younger group and, as you get older, there are many more that are offered. Music is the only way some kids can get through to others. Many parents don’t like some music in our society is because of the language. Music videos can really influence teens due to the actions shown in the video.  Music is a way teens can drown out reality for a while and drown out and other problems.
Music can influence people. I interviewed a fellow classmate, Bonnie Chase. Her favorite music is country because it makes her feel happy, which can influence others to fell happy too. I also interviewed my grandmother on how she feels on the society’s music as a parent.  She thinks that a lot of the music in society these days Is profound and influences teens with the actions they take.  She believes that some of the music that is around today, compared to the music back then, incorporates a lot of things that teens should not be doing, such as drugs, sex, and alcohol.
Music is something that a lot of teens incorporate in their everyday life.  As I asked my mother what she thinks of the music that teens listen to, and she thinks that the music is very profound. Another student thinks that we cannot blame the artist of the song for what the teen choose to do. They also believe that you make your own actions as a person and music does not influence you. They think that their parents do not approve of the music they listen to.
This concludes what teens think about music compared to what parents think. This also shows how students are influenced by the music we now have in society.
